GROVERS 2012 – RULES & DATES

Grovers 2012 begins on 29th March from 4pm.

Purpose

Grovers is intended to allow members to meet & play a friendly round of golf with fellow members.

Membership

Grovers is open to all members of the Manor of Groves.

Grovers membership fee: £5 payable in the Pro Shop before your first Grovers of the year.  Weekly entry fee: £3 which includes nearest the pin on the 10th. Register in the Pro Shop.

Competition Format, Structure & Grovers Adjustments

Format: 7 or 9 hole Stableford, men from yellow tees, ladies from red tees.  Full club handicap applies less any Grovers adjustment (= Net Grovers Handicap)

Division 1: Grovers Handicap 18 and below; Division 2: Grovers Handicap 19+

All ladies receive a Grovers adjustment of +2 strokes (max 36)

Weekly Divisional winners receive a Grovers Adjustment of -4 strokes; Divisional runners-up receive a Grovers Adjustment of -2 strokes

Countback, where applicable, will be based on stableford points scored on the  last 3, last 2, last hole, then 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th holes in that order.

All cards must be returned by 8.30pm to be eligible for the weekly Grovers competition.

Results will be published no more than one week in arrears.

Prizes will be paid in Pro Shop vouchers and will be available one week after each competition.

Order of Merit

Order of Merit: Weekly best card receives 10 Order of Merit points, 10th receives 1 Order of Merit points.  There will be a separate Order Of Merit for men and ladies.  Each weekly participant receives 1 point.  The highest male & female accumulated OM points’ scorers at the end of the season will be Grovers Man and Lady of the Year.

Rules of Golf, Rules of Grovers.

Whilst Grovers is a fun and informal club competition, it must be played according to the Rules of Golf.  “Gimmees” or “Mulligans” are not allowed.   To score on a hole, you must putt out.

To speed up play, pick up on a hole where you cannot score.

The 1st tee is reserved for Grovers members from 4pm – 6pm. Book in sheets will be available from 3.30pm; if you wish to play before 4pm you must make your own arrangements for a tee time.

Members are requested not to stand on the tee or join the queue unless their entire group is present.  Members should form four-balls wherever possible.

Juniors who play in Grovers must be accompanied by an adult member.

Grovers Day

The annual Grovers Day is a highlight of the year at the Manor of Groves.  It includes a free 18 hole stableford competition, evening dinner and entertainment.

You will be eligible to join us on Grovers Day if you play 10 qualifying rounds of Grovers during the year.
